Hypnotherapy is a wonderful tool which I can use to allow you access to your subconscious - that part of your mind that keeps all your secrets. In here are things you can't remember, things you are not allowed to remember and things you do remember but got the wrong idea about when they happened. When you go into hypnosis you are awake, you hear everything that goes on and you remember everything that goes on. Nobody is in control of you but yourself. The only feeling you will have is one of deep, deep relaxation.
The most common way the subconscious upsets your life is by making repressions. If something happens (at any age) which is a bit more than your conscious mind is comfortable with or capable of handling, your subconscious will remove all memory of this from your conscious mind. You would swear it never happened if someone suggested it did. Your subconscious now has this secret and keeping it is overtime work for which it will take overtime payment without asking. This payment is taken in the ideo-motor actions of your body or the thoughts of your mind. Your subconscious will give you a piece of abnormal behaviour - a neurosis - or more than one.
Your subconscious has no sense of logic or time, so anything it registers at any time in your life will always have the value it carried at that time, no matter when it is referred to. Now you can see that a lot of coping mechanisms and other parts of your character which were formed in your childhood, for instance, will still play out today true to the day they were formed. Obviously, as you move away from your childhood, this can cause problems.
With access to your subconscious and its hidden information that drives your life, you can re-arrange things and re-assess things; you can become free of things that used to make you unhappy. An event that frightened you as a five year old and still has that fear factor can be recalibrated by you as an adult and put in its proper place. Bad memories of things which are as vivid as the day they happened, move back to their place in your memory where they belong, with all the anxiety dissolved. It's a bit like correcting the settings on a computer, when something goes wrong or cleaning out a virus - everything is back as it should be afterwards. Hypnotherapy is a marvellous way to change your life for the better. It does not mask problems, it dismantles their foundations. This leaves you free to do what you want to, not what you have to.
